October 31, 1934 — February 6, 2024
Robert Galabeas, a friendly 89-year-old, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 6, 2024. Summing up 89 years is quite a task, so here are some highlights! Robert lived life to the fullest, always ready with a good joke. He proudly served in The Army National Guard for over 30 years and worked hard in auction barns across Colorado, Austin, and surrounding counties. Fishing and enjoying a cold beer were his passions.
On June 13, 1998, he married Alice Faye Gregurek, and together they lit up the dance floor, forming cherished friendships through the dance clubs they frequented. Hosting dances and socializing with friends brought them immense joy. Their lives took a turn when Robert suffered a stroke in 2013, ending their dancing days. He kept his sense of humor alive, making everyone laugh with his corny dad jokes! Even in the nursing home where he spent his final days, Robert's funny personality made the nurses and aides smile. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Urbano and Manuela (Ramos) Galabeas, a twin brother Raymond Galabeas and only sister Lucille Hernandez.
Robert is survived by his wife, his children Robert Galabeas and wife Mari, Urbano Galabeas and wife Diana Galabeas, Rockie Galabeas and wife Mela, Roy Galabeas and wife Becky, Diana Castro and husband Alex, Ruben Galabeas and wife Diana, Bobby Galabeas and wife Ann, Michael Galabeas, Chad Galabeas and wife Whitney, Julia Campos and husband Gabriel, Martha Juarez and husband Jimmy.
