Mary Ann Guthmann, 90, of New Ulm, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2024 in Columbus, Texas.

She was born on October 28, 1933 to Ladgie Blazek and Annie (Pilchiek) Blazek in Nelsonville, Texas. On November 25, 1951 she married Henry J. Guthmann.

Mary Ann worked at various places such as New Ulm Creamery, Fritzler Meat Market, New Ulm Tavern and finally Brookshire Bros in Columbus and then Bellville where she was the produce manager until her retirement.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Mary Ann loved to sew. She was self-taught and made her own patterns. She sewed all of her own clothes as well as things for her children and grandchildren. Mary Ann also sewed blankets and baby blankets that she shared with others. She enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout the

years. She loved to play dominoes and would travel to the various towns playing 42 and 88 which were her favorite games. Mary Ann is survived by her daughters Brenda Minarcik and husband Alvin of Fayetteville and Wanda Faldyn and husband Arthur of Lone Oak; sons Gary Guthmann and wife Dottie of Bellville and Warren Guthmann and wife Betty of Columbus; sister-in-law Irene Blazek of Katy; grandchildren Cheryl Junek (Jess), Chad Guthmann, Jennifer Colligan (Michael), Melissa Weynand (Kyle), Kimberly Gentry (George), John Minarcik (Veronica), Damon Faldyn (Elizabeth), Shawn Faldyn (Ashley), Grant Guthmann (Tara), Kelsey Guthmann (friend Johnny Stewart), and Matthew Guthmann (Shelby); great grandchildren Gage Colligan, Annabelle Colligan, Clara Weynand, Emery Weynand, Liam Gentry, Jaydon Faldyn, Hailey Faldyn, Harper Faldyn, Noah Faldyn, Emma Faldyn, Josef Faldyn, Sophie Guthmann, Lynden Tesch (Hunter), and baby Blair Minarcik due in March 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ladgie and Annie; husband Henry J. Guthmann; brother Lawrence Blazek; sisters Nola Dell Marusik (Edwin), Dee Kaase (Herbert), and Rosa Lee “Totsie” Krebs (Calvin).

Visitation was held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.

Funeral Service was held on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Texas. Pastor Ivy Schulz officiated. Visitation at church was from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Burial took place in New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm, Texas. Pallbearers were Chad Guthmann, John Minarcik, Damon Faldyn, Shawn Faldyn, Grant Guthmann, and Matthew Guthmann. Honorary pallbearers were Cheryl Junek, Jennifer Colligan, Melissa Weynand, Kimberly Gentry, Kelsey Guthmann, Gage Colligan, Annabelle Colligan, Clara Weynand, Emery Weynand, Liam Gentry, Jaydon Faldyn, Hailey Faldyn, Harper Faldyn, Noah Faldyn, Emma Faldyn, Josef Faldyn, Sophie Guthmann, and Lynden Tesch.
