LA GRANGE —They pulled out all the stops for the girls of La Grange Elementary School on Jan 9, with a PTO-sponsored Daughters and Dates Sweetheart Dance. The girls were dressed in beautiful dresses and some with tiaras and pearls, but all with laughter and smiles on their dates’ armsmostly daddies.
The DJ kept the music pumping through the night while the girls and the dates enjoyed snacks, and punch in the cafeteria covered in Valentine's decorations. While the popular music played, most girls got on the dance floor together, screamed, sang the words to every song, and even line-danced! Mr. B, Phillip Brummett, the music teacher at the school, also got on the microphone and led the crowd in the 'YMCA,” encouraging dads to dance with the daughters who were already out of breath from dancing. One dad said, 'I have danced twice in my life, once at my wedding, and tonight!' It was a sweet time that was fun for all.
