Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek was presented the Patriot Award by Deputy Hardy Hay and a representative from the Department of Defense, in the office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) on Feb. 14.
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made by employers, such as Sheriff Korenek, to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
These citizen warriors could not defend and protect us at home and abroad without the continued promise of meaningful civilian employment for themselves and their families.
Deputy Hay is currently a command sergeant major in the Army Reserves, while also employed as a Deputy for the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
