COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M School of Public Health recently held its annual Career and Practicum Fair, allowing master and doctoral students to meet with a variety of city, county, and nonprofit agencies that may have available internship positions.
Representatives of The Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley participated, seeking to better understand what students might be available for Colorado County entities and what sponsorship of a student requires from the local entity.
Currently, The Wellness Council has a fourth-year doctoral student who has brought a tremendous amount of skills, programs, and energy to the work of the council; internships can be a big winwin for both the entity and the student.
All nonprofits, cities, counties and state entities may request an intern to do a rotation within their organization.
Master-level graduate students usually serve their rotations during the summer months, while doctoral students do their practicum over two to three years.
