Columbus and La Grange represent tri-county in State Swimming

SAN ANTONIO – Cardinal and Leopard swimming made a showing at the UIL State Swimming Meet Feb. 9 and 10 at Josh Davis Natatorium & Bill Walker Pool in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO — Cardinal and Leopard swimming made a showing at the UIL State Swimming Meet Feb. 9 and 10 at Josh Davis Natatorium & Bill Walker Pool in San Antonio.

Columbus qualified for the 200 medley relay (Justin Strauss, Colby Williams, Rayce Johnson, and Cade Neumann), the 50 yard freestyle (Rayce Johnson), and the 200 and 400 freestyle relay (Justin Strauss, Cade Neumann, Colby Williams, and Rayce Johnson). The Cardinals finished seventh in the 200 freestyle relay and advanced to the finals with a time of 1:36.46. They finished seventh again in the finals with a time of 1:36.51.

La Grange’s Ben Swisher qualified for the 100 yard but - terfly and was the first swimmer to make it to states in La Grange swimming history. Swisher fin - ished 16th with a time of 1:00.15.

Columbus finished 10th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.16, Rayce Johnson placed 12th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.84, and the Cardinals placed ninth in the 400 yard free - style relay with a time of 3:39.57.
