COLUMBUS — Tower 14 extended its ladder high into the air with the Unit- ed States flag proudly waving in the gen tle breeze to signal the site of CVFD’s annual Oyster and Fish Fry on Feb. 25 at the Columbus Hall in Columbus.

Cars whipped into the drive-thru lane where they were waited on with plates stacked with either fish, oysters or both. Friends met friends inside the hall and ate their fill of great tasting food and leaving full and happy.

The number of ticket sales was down several hundred from last year, and it was mainly attributed to the cost increases of goods purchased by families and every - one watching every penny thanks to the failed economic policies of the current federal administration, no longer to be blamed on the pandemic or the supply chain domino-effect.

Rural volunteer fire departments rely heavily on fundraising to keep up with the rising number of calls.
