Colorado County Wildife Management Association banquet slated

COLUMBUS – The Colorado County Wildlife Management Association’s (CCWMA) Banquet is scheduled for 4 p.m.

COLUMBUS — The Colorado County Wildlife Management Association’s (CCWMA) Banquet is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Saturday, March 16, at the Columbus Hall in Columbus.

There is no cost to attend.

Meal tickets will be available for purchase for a barbecue meal at 6 p.m. with free soft drinks and beer while it lasts.

This year’s main speaker TPWD Whitetail Deer Program Leader Blaise Korzekwa. The topic will be “Does culling actually improve antler quality?”

Aaron Summrall will provide an introduction to the Pig Brig Trapping System for feral hog control.

The event will include card raffles, bucket raffles, a buck scoring contest and of course the drawing for the big raffle.

Vendors with nice merchandise to look over and purchase will also be available.

The 2023 Scholarship winners and the 2023 Whitetail Contest winners will be recognized.

Bring your WMA harvested buck mounts to be displayed and to be eligible to win one of five $50 gift certificates.

All bucks harvested on Colorado County WMA property in 2023 are encouraged and welcomed to be enjoyed by all.

Make sure they can be hung for viewing. Also bring your game cam and regular photos for the Photo Contest.

All Wildlife Management Association members are encouraged to attend and the general public is also invited to this family friendly event.

Proceeds from the event go to help fund future scholarships.

To date, CCWMA has handed out over $145,000 in scholarships to local and/or CCWMA affiliated graduating seniors.
