FRELSBURG KC PLANS FISH FRYS

FRELSBURG — The Frelsburg Knights of Columbus Council No. 5157 will sponsor its Friday Night Fish Frys, March 8, 15 and 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Diamond Center in Frelsburg. The catfish meals, dine in or plates to go, are $15 per plate and fish by the pound $15 per pound. Homemade desserts will be available by St. Anne’s Altar Society. Raffle tickets will be available.

LEARN ABOUT HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN

COLUMBUS — Colorado County, City of Columbus and the City of Eagle Lake are hosting an open house to inform the public about the hazard mitigation plan. The public meeting will be held tonight (Thursday, March 7) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Colorado County EMS training room at 305 Radio Ln. in Columbus.

SEALY KC FISH FRY RETURNS

SEALY — The Sealy Knights of Columbus announce the return of their annual Famous Lenten Fish Fry, up to March 29 at the Sealy Columbus Club Hall at 1310 Hwy 90 West in Sealy, and will continue every Friday during Lent. Serving drive-thru only, starting at 5:30 to 7:15 p.m., for only $13 a plate. Cash or most major credit cards accepted. Menu will include fried fish, French fries, pinto beans, coleslaw and hush puppies. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Austin County Meals on Wheels.

FCF ACCEPTING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) is now accepting applications for its 2024 scholarships, with a deadline of Monday, April 1. All seniors graduating from public, private and home-school within an 80 mile radius of La Grange are encouraged to apply. IVFD TO HOLD BARBECUE

INDUSTRY — The Industry Volunteer Fire & Rescue drive-thru barbecue chicken and sausage plates will be served Sunday, March 10 at the Firemen’s Park at Highway 159 in Industry. Advance only meal tickets will be sold for $15 per plate. Pick up plates from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets may be purchased today (Thursday, March 7) from any firefighter, from local businesses or call 979-357-2390 and leave message.

COLUMBUS TO HOLD SHRED-IT EVENT

COLUMBUS — Shred-it event is coming to Columbus Wednesday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to noon, courtesy of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Trash-Off Day sponsored by the Columbus Garden Club. Items accepted include hard drives, media, x-rays, medical records, credit cards, paper files and tax returns. No cardboard will be accepted. There will be no set fee but free-will donations will be gladly accepted to offset the cost.

FREE AFTER SCHOOL ART CLASSES

COLUMBUS — The Live Oak Art Center located at 1014 Milam St. in Columbus offers free after school art classes every Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. Register on the website www.liveoakartcenter.org under the classes and events tab. The free classes are offered throughout the whole school year. If registration is full they can always check back each semester.

FRIENDS OF SFA STATE PARK TO MEET

SAN FELIPE — Friends of Stephen F. Austin State Park meet the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Nature Center in San Felipe. The meeting is open to the public, so please come and help support the park.

WINCHESTER TO HOLD FARMERS MARKET

WINCHESTER — The first Winchester Farmers Market for the year will be held Saturday, March 9 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Zilss Hall in Winchester. Vendors may register on site for a $10 space. Some of the featured vendors include Weise Farms Beef, Ponders Apothecary, Youngblood Honey, and J’s Ranch Rub. Come and shop local for unique handmade craft items, homemade noodles, jams and jellies, homemade bread, local honey and fresh produce (when available).
