Lindemann wins the gold star in bid for sheriff

In a closely watched race, the Colorado County Sheriff’s position was won by Justin Lindemann.

In a closely watched race, the Colorado County Sheriff’s position was won by Justin Lindemann.

Lindemann received over 60 percent of the votes with 2,831 votes against his opponent, Wendy Alley, who garnered a respectful 39 percent with 1,825 votes. The race was cleanly run, with each contestant running on their own platforms.

Austin, Colorado and Fayette counties, unanimously backed Republican Donald Trump for president and Ted Cruz for U.S. Senator.

The Democratic Party backed Joe Biden for president and Colin Alred for U.S. Senator.

Additionally, all 13 Republican Propositions passed.

- County Tax Assessor-Collector is Kim Rinn.

- County Commissioner, Pct. 1 is Greg Mikel.

- County Commissioner, Pct. 3 is Leroy Cerny, unopposed.

- Constable, Pct. 1 is Lance Johnson, unopposed.

- Constable, Pct. 2 is Dave Schulz, unopposed.

- Constable, Pct. 3 is Ronnie Griffin.

- Constable, Pct. 4 is James Clark, unopposed.

- County Chair (Democratic) is Pat Burns, unopposed; (Republican) is Charles Beers, unopposed.

- County Attorney is Jay Johannes, unopposed.
