Historically accurate cast iron care at San Felipe Museum

Historical recreationist, Nicole Shadle, of Brenham, demonstrates how to recondition neglected cast iron cookware March 16 at the San Felipe Museum in San Felipe. She has been doing historical recreation for 10 years and has determined she wouldn’t want to live like this daily. She has done it enough to know the pros and cons of living during Stephen F. Austin’s day. Cast iron cookware takes constant care, cleaning, and reconditioning, especially in the Texas humidity.
