SCHULENBURG — The Schulenburg Sausage Festival (https:www.schulenburgsausagefest. com/) is a day of fun and festivities to be held this year on Saturday, April 6, in downtown Schulenburg.
For those eager to put in a few extra steps that morning and possibly earn a few extra samples of sausage or kraut, the first event of the day is a 5K that will be hosted by the Alliance for College & Career Student Success (ACCSS). ACCSS is a collabora tion between Blinn College and Schulenburg, Weimar, Flatonia, Columbus and Fayetteville ISDs.
The partnership works to provide academic and career resources, guidance, and support necessary for students to obtain academic and CTE dual credits or workforce career credentials. Proceeds raised through registration and sponsorships will help continue ACCSS programming, supporting our rural students as they pursue their post-secondary goals.
Runners and walkers who wish to sign up may visit https:// sausagefest5k.itsyourrace.com/ event.aspx?id=16164. To ensure that they receive a shirt in their desired size, participants are encouraged to sign up by March 18.
Donations can also be made by individuals, philanthropies, or businesses who are interested in supporting students in their community at the ACCSS website (https://myaccss.net/donations/).
This year, the run will be chip-timed, and medals will be distributed to the top three males and females in eight different age categories.
Though pre-registration is preferred, runners may sign up the morning between 7:30-8:30 a.m. and the run will begin at 9 a.m.
