COLUMBUS—Billy Kahn, presi- dent of A Better Columbus (ABC), and Rusty Theut, president of the Columbus Rotary Club, have announced a partner ship. ABC has curated special hanging floral baskets for local merchants and Rotary is underwriting half the cost.

ABC has worked with local floral designer Anna Schindler to research and create commercial-grade baskets full of the highest quality artificial flowers coated with the best UV protection available in America.

“We needed to produce the high- est quality baskets to prevent chipping, cracking and fading in the Texas heat and sunlight for many years,” according to Kahn. “However, high quality translates to high costs. All in, our cost for one of these beautiful baskets is $250."

“We are very pleased to partner with ABC,” said Theut. Through a generous grant from Rotary International and matching funds from our local club, we are able to underwrite half the cost of these baskets for merchants, making them only $125 and affordable to most every merchant in town.”

Rotary is underwriting up to 50 bas - kets, but orders must be placed by the end of this March to qualify for this discount!

Remember, these attractive flowers are artificial, so no watering is needed, and they will last several years. Several businesses have already purchased them, including AL&M Building Supply, the Dewberry Café, Frnka A/C Sales & Appliances, Mid-Coast Title and more. All are delighted with the attention-getting displays. For more information about this special offer, call Trish Priest at 979-732-0187 or Billy Kahn at 979-4847184.

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change  across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

ABC is a nonprofit created to make Columbus better. Their vision is to connect residents, visitors, and businesses to encourage growth while celebrating our heritage.

"We are all about collaboration at A Better Columbus," said Kahn. "To date, we have partnered with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Columubus Rotary Club, Columbus Lions Club, Drew and Kim Lynch, AL&M Building Supply, The Laura Dick Rau Trust, Colum- bus State Bank and Tri-County Realty - Double G Realty Group. We've also ap plied for and received two grants, and we rely on donations from the community.”

Kahn reminds everyone that as a nonprofit 501(c)3, donations are tax deductible.

ABC is the group responsible, along with their partners, for three new murals in town, as well as a dozen new trash receptacles around the downtown, Colorado County Courthouse square area, and many other behind-the-scenes activities as well.
