LA GRANGE — Fayette County Deputy Wesly Harrison attempted to traffic stop Chalin Morgan, 24, of Houston on multiple violations on State Highway 71 near La Grange.
Morgan admitted to narcotics in the vehicle and handed over a bag of narcotics to Harrison.
Harrison questioned if there were any weapons in the vehicle and Morgan refused to get out of the vehicle. He fled eastbound on Hwy. 71 towards Colorado County. Speeds of up to 130 mph were reached with Morgan turning his vehicle lights off.
Colorado County Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips, and the vehicle stopped just west of the Colorado County bridge and hefled on foot into a pasture. Deputies located a loaded Glock 22 in the vehicle.
After an extensive search by multiple agencies, including the use of an Infrared Thermal Imaging Drone, Morgan was unable to be located.
Morgan is not believed to be armed.
