SCHULENBURG-The Schulenburg Police Department joined Operation Lone Star after the city council approved the action. The interlock agreement between 26 law enforcement agencies will provide Schulenburg with additional resources, manpower, and funds to combat narcotics trafficking, firearms, and stolen vehicles.
According to Chief Troy Brenek, SPD recently applied for a $372,988.44 grant to purchase a vehicle and other items that will help SPD work with the task force.
When needed, SPD could ask for or give assistance from the other agencies within the interlocal agree - ment and, through the agreement, all expenses incurred by SPD would be covered during the time it is called out to help with the task force.
