WEIMAR — Imagine sitting out on your lawn chair on a cool spring evening with the sun just setting and a very slight breeze brushing away the heat of the day. Top that image off with a snack and some beautiful poetry your neighbors and friends read to you.
That is Poetry Open Mic Night in Weimar.
Friends of the Weimar Public Library will host its 3rd annual Poetry Open Mic Night on Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m.
The “Friends” group offers this event because open mic events provide an opportunity for emerging writers or performers to share their personal, creative ventures, or those of other writers, with an audience of friends and neighbors.
In the past two years, we have seen poets old and young read their own compositions to an appreciative audience at the Weimar Poetry Open Mic Night. Some readers choose to read pieces by their favorite writers instead of their own writing because those pieces carry special meaning to them and allow them to share thoughts, emotions, and beliefs with others.
The audience has grown each year, and the event is gaining in popularity.
So come out on April 25 and enjoy something a little different from your daily ritual. We think you will be glad you did.
