Columbus Band Director Alexander Busby wants to put the word out by saying “I just wanted to share some amazing news about the band program! This year, both the Columbus Junior High and High School concert bands received Sweepstakes at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading evaluation. Not only did they receive sweepstakes (an overall I averaged between three judges in the performance and three judges for sight reading) but they received a perfect rating of straight 1s from all six judges for both categories. This is the first time in the past 20 years that this has happened for both bands in the same year! It may be longer, but the online database only shows the last 20 years.”
