BELLVILLE — The largest custom knife show in Texas lived up to its name on April 6, when over 150 individual knife makers converged on the Austin County Fair Convention and Expo Center in Bellville.
Crowds filled it to capacity as people came in and out to ooh and aah over blades of every shape and make.
David Baker, a world-renowned swordsmith who is one of the recognized Forged in Fire judges, came to the event to demonstrate some of the techniques for forging Damascus steel into blades on stage and answering questions from the audience.
Cowboy Szymanski, knifemaker and owner of Phenix Knives in Bellville envisioned an event such as this but he couldn’t have imagined that it would catch fire like it did and become what it is today.
