WARRENTON — Downtown Warrenton suffered major damage on April 11 at about 5 a.m., when a fire ripped through two structures and the Warren- ton fire station.
Vendors for the annual antique shows used two of the structures that were burned to the ground. The fire station was severely damaged but is expected to be salvageable. Firefighters were able to retrieve two of the fire trucks out safely which they used to fight the fires. The fire started a short distance from the station and had spread to the attic.
The historic Zapp Hall was undamaged, but the exterior of the Warrenton Grocery Store suffered minor damage.
The fires have been put out.
