FREE AFTER SCHOOL ART CLASSES

COLUMBUS — The Live Oak Art Center located at 1014 Milam St. in Columbus offers free after school art classes every Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. Register on the website www.liveoakartcenter.org under the classes and events tab. The free classes are offered throughout the whole school year. If registration is full they can always check back each semester.

SENIORS TOGETHER SOCIAL SCHEDULE

Seniors Together, a place for senior’s, 55 years or older to so- cialize with others is held every first and third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Lighthouse Fellowship Hall at 201 Veteran’s Dr. in Columbus. and at the Weimar Civic Center in Weimar on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events includes card games, board games, Bingo with prizes, coffee and tea, movies, lunch provided, educational speakers, field trips including trips to casinos and so cial gathering.

LOAC TO PROVIDE FREE SUMMER CAMPS

COLUMBUS — The Live Oak Art Center in Columbus will provide free Arts Stars Summer Camps in June and July, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. To register, visit the website www.liveoakartcenter.org under the classes and events tab.

GUILD TO HOLD BAKE SALE

LA GRANGE — The Mt. Calvary Mary Martha Guild will host its annual Mother’s Day Bake Sale in front of National Bank & Trust on the Fayette County courthouse square Friday, May 10 from 8 to 11 a.m. or until sold out. Baked goods available will include cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, cupcakes and other home baked items. Free will donations. Funds raised will support various local outreach projects. Be sure to come early and surprise Mom with a treat.

BLEIBLERVILLE VFD FISH FRY PLANNED

BLEIBLERVILLE — The Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire De- partment will hold its 23rd annual fish fry Sunday, May 19 at the Bleiblerville Fire Station at 3342 FM 2502 in Bleiblerville. Fish to go by the pound only will be sold at $12 per pound from 9 to 10 a.m., plates to go are $15 and desserts will be available. Fish plates (dine in) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is $15 for adults, $5 for children (6-12) and free to children under 6. A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. The event will also include kids activities, silent auction, and cake/variety walk. There will be food to go in the afternoon.

Raffle prizes will be awarded after the fish fry. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of fire fighting equipment.

HUNTER SAFETY CERTIFICATION CLASS SET

WEIMAR — Friends of the Weimar Public Library will be offering a Hunter Safety certification class Friday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Certification is required for hunters in Texas. The class will be held at the Weimar Junior High cafeteria. Seating is limited and attendees must be registered to get into the class. HOT DOGS & BAKE SALE SLATED

ELLINGER — The St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger will have hot dogs and bake sale Saturday, May 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church located at 110 W Fayette St. in Ellinger. TCHCC SLAVNOST TO BE HELD

LA GRANGE - The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Cen ter (TCHCC) will present Slavnost “May Fest” Sunday, May 19 at 250 W. Fairgrounds Rd. in La Grange. A tribute to the Czech Immigrants ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. A chicken fried chicken dinner will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. at $13 per plate. Music will be provided by Donnie Wavra & Friends Orchestra from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The family friendly event will include the Czech Village & Museum tours, classic car show, gift shop, raffle drawing, country store and pastry shop.
