COLUMBUS — In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memo rial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

The Memorial Service began in 1982 as a gathering in Senate Park of approximately 120 sur vivors and supporters of law enforcement.

Decades later, the event, more commonly known as the National Police Week has grown to a series of events that attract thousands of survivors and law en- forcement officers to our Nation's Capital each year.

In memory of the fallen and in honor of the peace officers and law enforcement of Colorado County, please join them on the West side of the Colorado County Courthouse on Tuesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. to honor and show our appreciation and support for the peace officers and law en - forcement officials of Colorado County.
