Lost toddler scam

Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley advised his department is being used in conjunction with photos of toddlers who appear in photos in diapers with cuts and abrasions on Facebook.

Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley advised his department is being used in conjunction with photos of toddlers who appear in photos in diapers with cuts and abrasions on Facebook.

The posts indicate that Bellville is searching for the parents of the children they are in the custody of and that Bellville PD is asking for assistance.

The photos often state to “bump” the photo. Smalley sayid this is a scam and do not fall for it, post, click, comment or share the photo. Doing so may be placing the poster in a position for someone to compromise their account.

Smalley emphasizes the department would never post pictures of toddlers such as these on Facebook.

Do not engage posts with #bellville that come from unknown sources.

Scams are increasing every day and the public should take precautions when responding to unsolicited FB posts.
