A good amount of area teams took their bags to the UIL 2024 Golf State Championship meet and all four classes were represented, which included both girls and boys golfers.
The 1A boys and girls both played at Crystal Falls Golf Club in Leander May 6 and 7 while the 2A girls and boys played at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, just at different dates. The the boys played April 29 and 30, and the girls played May 6 and 7.
The 3A boys played at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin April 29 and 30, then the 3A girls played at ShadowGlen Golf Club in Manor May 6 and 7.
Wrapping up the participants in 4A was the boys at Legends Golf Course in Kingsville April 29 and 30, followed by the 4A girls at the same course May 6 and 7.
In 1A girls, Angie LeBouef from Round Top-Carmine fin ished 12th place individually with scores of 100 and 93 for a 193 total. Fayetteville’s Eva Shaw finished 34th place with scores of 119 and 109 for a 228 total. In 2A, the Schulenburg boys qual- ified as a team and finished 9th with combined scores of 354 and 338 for a 692 total. Schulenburg’s team consisted of Reid Janda, Brycen Schramek, Jackson Faith, Jayse Janda, and Van Prihoda. Individual scorers were Reid Janda in 12th with scores of 79 and 73 for a 152 total, Schramek with a 81 and 77 for a 158 total, Weston Pavlik from Weimar in 26th place with a 86 and 81 for a 167 total, Jayse Janda in 48th place with an 88 and 91 for a 179 total, Faith in 62nd place with a 106 and 97 for a 203 total, and Prihoda in 50th place with a 114 and 115 for a 229 total.
For 2A girls, Taylor Smith represented the entire class from Weimar in 12th place with a 91 and 78 for a 169 total.
In Class 3A, the Columbus girls qualified as a team and fin ished 11th place with combined scores of 414 and 416 for a 830 total. Golfers were Thea Schobel (40th place individually, 97-101198 total), Kerigan Faldyn (45th place, 99-104-203 total), Kambrie Toppel (52nd place, 11498-212 total), Katharine Burnett (58th place, 107-113-220), and Madelyn Garcia (61st place, 111113-224 total).
Bellville boys golf qualified as a team in 4A and finished 10th
place with combined scores of 307 and 327 for a 634 total. Individual golfers were Deacon Bauerschlag (6th place, 74-71145 total), Cooper Hollomon (38th place, 76-81-157 total), Jason Wood (43rd place, 71-88-159 total), Dane King (67th place, 86-92-178 total), and Emil Kloss (68th place, 92-87-179 total.
