MENTZ—The Bernardo Volunteer Fire Department, St. Roch’s Catholic Church, and the Bernardo community came together on May 11 on the grounds of St. Roch’s Catholic Church in Mentz to help raise money for Blake Schramm’s family. The Schramm family was involved with BVFD and members of St. Roch.

Blake, Heather, and nine-month-old daughter Ryleigh were in a head-on collision near Victoria on March 9. Due to their injuries, they cannot work and the event’s proceeds will help cover medical and living expenses while they recoup.

The fundraiser took on a feast-like atmosphere with a corn hole tournament, the Red Bulls Band playing cover tunes, many auction items, and a delicious meal. The auction was hot and heavy, with pies from Dewberry Cafe alone going for $1,000 each.

Everyone enjoyed the fundraiser, not only because they had a great time but also because they knew they could come together as one and support someone in need. To donate to the Blake Schramm Family fund, write your donation out to the Bernardo Volunteer Fire Department and Schramm Family in the memo line and send it to 1201 Piney Woods Road, Alleyton, Texas, 78934.
