The Magnolia Homes Tour Festival in Columbus started in 1961 to showcase the town’s historic antebellum and historic homes. It has since been renamed the Magnolia Days Festival and encompasses much more than a tour of the grand domiciles of the past.
The homes may not be toured as they once were, but they can be seen, admired, and appreciated from the streets. One constant that is seen each year is the Magnolia Belles. The belles are a group of high school girls who represent the southern pride of Columbus.
Under the shade of the magnificent magnolia trees on the Colorado County Courthouse square, a vibrant atmosphere awaits as thousands gather for a weekend filled with family fun and entertainment for all ages.
The homes scattered around Columbus offer a unique journey through time, transporting tourists and citizens alike to the historical roots that shaped Columbus into what it is today.
Bands, food and vendors will be on the courthouse square.
Saunter on down to Columbus for fun and frivolity on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, and see what all the fuss is about. Go to http://magnoliadays.org for event and entertainment lineups.
