COLUMBUS — Representatives of The Wellness Council attended Safety Day at the Colorado County Fairgrounds on May 14, 2024.
Dr Mazie Leftwich, PsyD, LCSW Emeritus and president of the Wellness Council, and Jane Walla worked with the fifth grade classes on the importance of recognizing, talking about, and being in control of how they deal with their emotions.
She stressed that it’s important to talk about emotional situations so they don't negatively impact their emotional and physical health. The students enjoyed acting out emotions for their classmates to identify.
Each student received a pos- itive affirmation bracelet and all teachers were given emotion posters for their classrooms.
