SEALY — The saying may be “The most exciting two minutes in sports” at the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs, but the time at the Kentucky Derby Banquet May 17 at the American Legion Hall in Sealy and hosted by the Greater Sealy Chamber of Commerce lasted hours with fun at every turn.
Under the guidance of the Master of Ceremonies, Jeff Virnau, who led the crowd with his engaging announcements, big hats were worn for good luck and dress-appropriate for the occasion.
The meal was served by the Tiger Cafe, students from the Sealy High School Culinary Arts Department, and was much appreciated by the guests.
Universal Automotive won the Business of the Year Award, C&C Golden Insurance took the New Business of the Year Award, CHAMP/American Legion Post 442 won the Peggy Spradley Award, and Crystal Schultz received The Blue Blazer of the Year Award.
