WCJC’s baseball and volleyball programs host summer training opportunity

WHARTON–Wharton County Junior College’s baseball and volleyball programs will host training camps this summer to help young athletes sharpen their skills.

WHARTON—Wharton County Junior College’s baseball and volleyball programs will host training camps this summer to help young athletes sharpen their skills.

The Pioneers Volleyball Camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon June 17-19 at the Gene Bahnsen Gymnasium on the Wharton campus.

It is open to students in fourth through seventh grades and will teach participants various aspects of the game, including setting, digging, hitting, passingand serving.

Pre-registration before June 13 is $75, and walk-ups are $80. A T-shirt is included in the fee. WCJC Volleyball Coach Jerrick Cabrales and WCJC volleyball players will host the camp.

The Pioneers Baseball Camp, a fun-filled learning experience, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon June 10-12 at Corbett Park on the Wharton campus.

The camp, open to youth ages seven through 14, will cover aspects of baseball, including fielding, catching, base running, hitting and throwing. Pre-registration, before June 6, costs $80, and the day of the camp costs $85. A T-shirt will be provided for each registered participant.
