NEW ULM - The Weimar Vets traveled to New Ulm to take on the firemen for the first game of their community league 2024 opener. Kenny Goehring doubled in the second inning, driving in two runs to take the early lead. New Ulm countered with five runs to take the lead. The Vets tacked on a run in the third.
On a four run fifth, the Vets took the lead for good and added runs in the seventh and ninth while the firemen added a lone run in the eighth to make the final score 10-6. Vets win.
Mason Lampe started the game with a shutout first. De -
spite a shaky fifth, he then threw five shutout innings, recording thirteen strikeouts while stranding seven base runners earning the win. Cody Barrett pitched the last two innings, striking out six to record the save. Leading the offense was Kannyn Goehring- BB, double, single, 2 RBI’s; Mason Lampe- Single, RBI, 2 HBP’s, 2 BB’s; Ryker Goehring-4 BB’s, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI’s; Alex Angerstein- RBI, single, 2 stolen bases, run scored; Clay Barton- run scored, 2 stolen bases; Trey Daniels- HBP, run scored.
