Congratulations are in order for four St. Anthony Catholic School students in Columbus in Kelsey Bohuslav’s fourth grade class.

They won top honors at the State Republic of Texas Museum Art Contest, sponsored by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT).

The winners were Kimber Nelson, first; Abraham Rangel, second; Kh -

loe Warschak, third and Lily Barten, honorable mention. Each recipient was awarded a ribbon, certificate and a monetary prize; additionally, their creations will be displayed at the new Republic of Texas Museum located at 810 San Marcos St. in Austin through the end of July.

Columbus’ chapter, Dilue Rose Harris, promotes the annual contest locally. Students from both St. Anthony and Columbus Elementary Schools submitted artwork based on historical events through the 1850s from the Columbus area.

After members chose local winners, all submissions were then sent to the museum for evaluation. There are 94 DRT chapters throughout Texas and the nation and each can submit their own artwork, so competition can be high.

For more information on the DRT, please visit the website at www.drtinfo. org or the Dilue Rose Harris Chapter Facebook page.
