Weimar head softball coach Roger Maupin recently landed the NFHS Network’s Sectional Coach of the Year award for the 2022-2023 season after winning the state title in the same year. It was Weimar’s second state tournament appearance in a row under Maupin.
“We talk about all the time with team success comes individual awards,” said Maupin.
“That all goes along with it. It just says the longevity about what we’ve been able to do. It’s taken a lot of girls in order for that to occur. I didn’t realize the magnitude of the award. They break the United States into eight sections. Doing that, I was one out of only eight coaches picked in the country. It says a lot for our program. It says a lot for our kids that come through here.”
Maupin has had tremendous success at the helm for Weimar and it’s more than likely to continue under his leadership with many state tournament appearances, developing college talent, and keeping the Lady Wildcats in the hunt for a state title year after year.
