BELLVILLE — The trusses are up and the roof and sides will be put on soon at the new location of the Bellville Police Department at 162 N. Chesley in Bellville.
The BPD’s move from the downtown location to the outskirts of town near the Austin County Sheriff's Office still has a bit to go but it is moving along nicely.
Bellville City Administrator Shawn Jackson is happy with some good news following a recent city council meeting. The funding bond for the police building was coming out of the general fund prior to the bond passing.
However, the city council voted unanimously to approve the bond that will relieve the city of out-of-pocket monies.
The building is expected to be completed by October of 2024.
