Demny, Gilfoil and Schram receive AC Livestock Association scholarships

CAT SPRING – Austin County Livestock Association President Glen Brandt welcomed approximately 175 people to the recent 74th meeting of the Austin County Livestock Association, held June 6 at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall in Cat Spring. The members and guests enjoyed barbecue brisket and pork by Schovajsa Catering.

CAT SPRING — Austin County Livestock Association President Glen Brandt welcomed approximately 175 people to the recent 74th meeting of the Austin County Livestock Association, held June 6 at the Cat Spring Agricultural Society Hall in Cat Spring. The members and guests enjoyed barbecue brisket and pork by Schovajsa Catering.

Paige Demny of the Brazos FFA Chapter, Ryleigh Gilfoil, and Kenna Schram, both of the Sealy FFA Chapter, each received a $1,000 scholarship. They will all major in agriculture at a university in Texas.

The association, along with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, provided a program of three hours of CEU credits. Topics included Pesticide Laws and Regulations, Feral Hog Control, and Drift Minimization Control.

The Austin County Livestock Association re-elected directors Byron Balke, Louis Divin, Steven Jackson and Greg Schubert. Their continued service ensures the association’s stability and progress.
