Home-Grown Vegetable Contest winners

BELLVILLE – The HomeGrown Vegetable Contest was held June 8 at Linseisen’s Feed & Supply in Bellville. Along with the contest, there was an educational program on How to Make Sauerkraut, presented by Robert Luedeker from Austin County Horticulture Committee.

This year’s winners were as follows: •Best of Show: 1. Sherry Burnham for Tomatoes-Slicers; 2. Martha Neva for Bell Peppers; 3. Sherry Burnham for Cucumbers.

•Best Tomato-Slicers: 1. Sherry Burnham; 2. Marian Cisarik; 3. Charles Beckendorf.

•Best Tomato-Snackers: 1. Sherry Burnham; 2. Marian Cisarik; 3. Sherry Kutch.

Biggest Tomato: 1. Marian Cisarik; 2. Sherry Burnham; 3. Sherry Kutch.

•Best Bell Peppers: 1. Gary Kroeger; 2. Martha Neva, 3. Hillary Kotwal.

Best All Other Peppers: 1. Sherry Kutch; 2. Sherry Burnham; 3. Charles Beckendorf.

•Best Banana Peppers: 1. Sherry Burnham; 2. Junior Master Gardeners-Sealy.

•Best Jalapeño Peppers: 1. Martha Neva; 2. Sens Demonstration Garden (BMGA).

Best Cucumbers: 1. Sherry Burnham; 2. Hillary Kotwal; 3. Sens Demonstration Garden(BMGA).

•Best Squash: 1. Sherry Burnham; 2. Hillary Kotwal.

•Best Eggplant: 1. Charles Beckendorf; 2. Junior Master Gardeners-Sealy.
