IRECTOR Leadership Colorado County will consist of nine (9) sessions held monthly on the second Wednes- day of each month September through May of each year. Sessions will cover but not limited to: leadership and leadership development; operations of local, state, and federal government; business and economic development; k-12 and higher education; health care; safety, law en- forcement, EMS, fire; agriculture, utilities, service organizations, and community development. Sessions will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. Most sessions will have a working lunch. Time may vary on the legislative day.
Leadership Colorado County are full days packed with vital information on who and what impacts Colorado County’s quality of life. Due to the importance of each session, participants are required to attend all nine (9) sessions. The Leadership Committee will give consideration on a case-by-case basis for an emergency situation. By missing more than one session, the Committee will have the standing to dismiss a participant from the Leadership program.
Leadership Colorado County requires participants to complete four outside activities over the ninemonth period that will include attending one City Council meeting, one School Board meeting, one County Commissioner’s Court, and one community-focused/non-profit meeting. Also required: at one of the government meetings participants are to give some type of public comment during the public comment section of the agenda. Participants will volunteer at least 10 hours with a community service group. The Leadership Committee will identify and approve the group and the hours. Participants will give a verbal report of their 10-hour volunteer experiences at an assigned meeting.
