The Faith Academy High School girls basketball team recently earned a state title after winning four games en route to the state championship victory on Feb. 17. Players who stepped up big for the Lady Knights were Rachel Kuespert and Ja'Kasia Ragston, who scored in double figures for the majority of the tournament. As Faith Academy won their final game by a score of 34-4, the state trophy was ul timately won by their defense.
“Those girls played amazing de- fense," said Faith Academy head girls basketball coach Joe Riley.
"The defense was just amaz - ing at a crucial time." Faith Academy is also led by assistant coach Ashley Theus. The Lady Knights didn't have a normal path to the state championship as they had to deal with coaches leaving and other coaches having to step in, making this feat even more impressive. The team is mostly made up of freshmen and sophomores, so they are only going to get better and could very well find themselves in the same predicament with a chance to win it all in 2024.
