SCHULENBURG — Navidad Valley CattleWomen will hold their 11th Annual 5K Ranch Run on Aug. 3 in conjunction with the Schulenburg Festival.
The reunion theme will continue as it has inspired family fun and teamwork for many years. This means that along with the traditional age group prizes there will be additional runners recognized.
The categories include the largest family group, the young-est participant, most “seasoned” participant, and runner who traveled the furthest to participate. The category for cross-country athletes who are training for their next season as UIL and TAPPS competitors will be continued and have a discounted registration. This event will be chiptimed.
The 5K will once again be followed by a 1-mile Fun Run for the youngsters not quite ready for the full 5K. Funds raised will be awarded to graduating seniors from Fayette, Lavaca and Colorado counties with an interest in agriculture.
Navidad Valley CattleWomen have presented over $100,000 in scholarships since they were first awarded in 2006, present ing another $12,000 this spring. Runners and walkers interested in participating and supporting area youth interested in pursuing their education past high school can contact Susie Shank at 979820-8964.
To be guaranteed a shirt, runners/ walkers should register by Monday, July 15. Additionally, CattleWomen will be visiting with fellow producers and businesses to support their efforts. NVCW is a 501(c)3; therefore, donations are tax deductible. The Navidad Valley CattleWomen, a local chapter of the Texas Cattle- women, is a non-profit organiza tion that supports and promotes the beef industry.
The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet. Additionally, they work to support the community with targeted outreach projects that include a beefy twist.
