Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on June 23, at approximately 1 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to the 6000 block of Munke Road regarding shots be- ing fired at a large gathering of party-goers following an annual trail ride put together by Capital City Trail-Riders (CCT).

Deputy Wesley Arrison was already near the scene responding to another call regarding public intoxication when he heard five to seven rapid-fire gunshots coming from the party.

Arrison radioed for backup and every FCSO feputy currently on duty hurried toward the shooter.

At that time, multiple 911 calls dropped from witnesses at the scene reporting the shots and a fight in progress.

Within seconds of Arrison's arrival, CCT's hired armed security had already detained the shooter and removed the firearm from his possession. While Arrison attempted to de-escalate and ensure there were no injuries, deputies Cody Williams, Jason Fowler, and Sgt. Ben Wilson arrived and put a stop to the chaos.

This incident led to the arrest of a male suspect, identified as Kavion Joiner, 25, of Elgin, for disorderly conduct by way of brandishing and discharging a firearm in public. He was also charged with criminal trespass- ing with a firearm and failing to depart after receiving notice.
