KC TO SELL CHICKEN & SAUSAGE

FRELSBURG — The Frelsburg Knights of Columbus Council will be selling chicken and sausage barbecue to go Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at Sts. Peter & Paul Diamond Center in Frelsburg. FREE AFTER SCHOOL ART CLASSES

COLUMBUS — The Live Oak Art Center located at 1014 Milam St. in Columbus offers free after school art classes every Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. Register on the website www.liveoakartcenter.org under the classes and events tab. The free classes are offered throughout the whole school year. If registration is full they can always check back each semester.

LOAC TO PROVIDE FREE SUMMER CAMPS

COLUMBUS — The Live Oak Art Center in Columbus will provide free Arts Stars Summer Camps in June and July, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register, visit the website www.liveoakartcenter.org under the classes and events tab.

MOVIE NIGHTS SCHEDULED

LA GRANGE — Come for a free movie, hot dogs, popcorn and drinks beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the Summer Movie Night Friday, July 12 in the Fellowship Hall at New Life Methodist Church at 1215 N. LEGION TO HOLD ARTS/CRAFT SHOW

WALLIS — The Wallis American Legion Post 200 will hold its 21st annual arts and craft show July 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hamburgers and chopped beef on bun will be available for purchase as well as dessert and drinks. Admission is $1 for hourly door prizes. The first 20 shoppers per day will receive a gift. The event will include musical entertainment. FRIENDS OF NRA DINNER EVENT SET

SCHULENBURG — The 20th Annual Tri-County Friends of NRA event will be held Friday, July 26 at the Schulenburg KC Hall in Schulenburg. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for games, drawing, live auction and fun activities for all to enjoy. Individual tickets are $30. Reserved tables are available. HUNTER SAFETY CERTIFICATION CLASS SET

WEIMAR — Friends of the Weimar Public Library will be offering a Hunter Safety certification class Friday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Certification is required for hunters in Texas. The class will be held at the Weimar Junior High cafeteria. Seating is limited and attendees must be registered to get into the class. EL SENIOR CITIZEN DANCE SCHEDULE

EAGLE LAKE — The schedule for the Eagle Lake Senior Citizen Dance held the first Friday of each month from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Community Center at 100 W. Walnut in Eagle Lake is: Aug. 2-Blue Denim; Sept. 6-Boogie Allen; Oct. 4-Larry Waddell & The Southern Stars; Nov. 1-No dance-early voting at the community center; and Dec. 6-Blue Denim (Christmas Dance).

FRIENDS OF SFA STATE PARK TO MEET

SAN FELIPE — Friends of Stephen F. Austin State Park meet the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Nature Center in San Felipe. The meeting is open to the public, so please come and help support the park.

SECOND CHANCE HOLIDAY HOURS

LA GRANGE — The donations drop-off area at Second Chance Emporium in La Grange will be closed today (Thursday, July 11). The sales store and donations drop-off area will be open Friday and Saturday, July 12 and 13. Regular hours of operation resume Monday, July 15.

MORAVIA PARISH PICNIC PLANNED

MORAVIA — Moravia Ascension Parish Picnic will be held Sunday, July 21 at the church located at FM 957 and FM 532 in Moravia. Picnic Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. The stew and kettle fried chicken meal will be served at 11 a.m. at $13 per plate. Drive-thru plates to go will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will include a country store, cake walk at noon, games, kids foam machine and water fun, games, auction sale at 1 p.m., and bingo from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be hamburgers, refreshments and entertainment on the picnic grounds. A prize drawing will be held at 7 p.m. Music during the day and night by Mark Halata & Texavia, and Texas Sound Check.

SENIORS TOGETHER SOCIAL SCHEDULE

Seniors Together, a place for senior’s, 55 years or older to socialize with others is held every first and third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Lighthouse Fellowship Hall at 201 Veteran’s Dr. in Columbus. and at the Weimar Civic Center in Weimar on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events includes card games, board games, Bingo with prizes, coffee and tea, movies, lunch provided, educational speakers, field trips including trips to casinos and social gathering.
