Two area little league teams have won state and made it to their regional tournament: Columbus softball and La Grange baseball.
The La Grange intermediate baseball team has had a stellar season and recently beat Katy American with a final score of 4-0 on July 18 in order to advance to the Southwest Regional Tournament at First Colony in Sugar Land.
La Grange lost their opener at the Southwest Regional July 21 to San Antonio Northside 8-1. On July 22, they were leading the Oklahoma champs 3-2 when the game was suspended because of the weather.
As for Columbus softball, they are in the major division and played in Waco with the first game July 22, representing the Texas East Region and went down to Louisiana by a final score of 2-0. They were set to play Oklahoma July 23. Columbus has been know for making deep runs in little league softball.
