WALLIS — The Wallis Economic Development Corporation held its first anniversary celebration with a free con- cert and festivities to highlight the first anniversary of the Brandt 1910 restoration turned Sophisticated Event Venue and Marini’s Empanada Kitchen on July 19 in Wallis.
The two historic buildings were recently renovated and are seeing new life in themselves and Wallis.
The owners of the Brandt 1910 b uilding, Joshua and Natalie Dejong of Katy, purchased the historic Brandt building with the original Coca-Cola mural on the side in hopes of restoring it to its former glory.
After 30 years of sitting idle, the Dejongs opened up the venue, and it has been filled with music and laughter ever since.
The Wallis Economic Development Corporation hopes that this can be an annual event that showcases its historic downtown area and other businesses.
