SENIORS TOGETHER SOCIAL SCHEDULE

Seniors Together, a place for senior’s, 55 years or older to so-

cialize with others is held every first and third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Lighthouse Fel - lowship Hall at 201 Veteran's Dr. in Columbus. and at the Weimar Civic Center in Weimar on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events includes card games, board games, Bingo with prizes, coffee and tea, movies, lunch provided, educational speakers, field trips including trips to casinos and so cial gathering.

CISD SEASON FOOTBALL TICKETS AVAILABLE

COLUMBUS - Columbus Independent School District foot - ball season tickets will go on sale now to Aug. 9 at The Christo - pher Kilpatrick Memorial Center in Columbus from 8 to 11 a.m. (athletic secretary's office – Brenda Skutca). The season ticket is $30. Games include Sept. 6 vs. La Grange (senior night), Sept. 13 vs. Needville, Sept. 27 vs. Bellville (homecoming), Oct. 18 vs. Yoakum and Nov. 1 vs. Hallettsville.

WEIMAR CHESS CLUB TO BEGIN

WEIMAR - The Weimar Chess Club (WCC) meets every Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at the Weimar Public Library in Weimar. The WCC is free to ages 5 to adult. David McCall is the club sponsor. He is a retired science teacher (15 years), elementa - ry school counselor (20 years) and has 19 years experience as a scholastic chess coach. He will provide free chess instructions and start each WCC meeting with a short lesson, which is followed with casual play time following International Chess Federation rules. ST. MARY'S FESTIVAL/HOMECOMING SET NADA - St. Mary's Church (Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary) in Nada will hold its festival and homecoming Sunday, Sept. 1. A barbecue beef and sausage dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Adults and plates to go are $12 and $6 for children under 12. Barbecue sandwiches, nachos, sweets and more will be available from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Live auction begins at 1 p.m. Bingo will be played from 1 to 7 p.m. The event will also include a raffle drawing, linen baskets and more, country store, plant and cakewalk, kids games and fun. There will also be music and danc ing inside the hall.

SEALY KC TO SERVE PORK STEAK

SEALY - The Sealy Knights of Columbus will be serving their famous grilled pork steak drive-thru dinner for only $13 a plate on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Sealy Columbus Club (KC) Hall at 1310 Hwy 90 West in Sealy. Serving from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (or until sold out). A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Sealy Christian Food Pantry.

EL SENIOR CITIZEN DANCE SCHEDULE EAGLE LAKE - The schedule for the Eagle Lake Senior Cit - izen Dance held the first Friday of each month from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Community Center at 100 W. Walnut in Eagle Lake is: Sept. 6-Boogie Allen; Oct. 4-Larry Waddell & The Southern Stars; Nov. 1-No dance-early voting at the community center; and Dec. 6-Blue Denim (Christmas Dance).

ST. MICHAEL PLANS HARVEST FEAST WEIMAR - St. Michael Catholic Church Harvest Feast will be held Sunday, Aug. 11 at Veteran's Memorial Hall in Weimar. The fried chicken and stew dinner will be $13 per plate. Serv - ing starts at 11 a.m. Pick-up and picnic drive-thru and go will be available at St. Michael's Family Center in Weimar. The event will include Mass at 10:30 a.m., auction at 1 p.m., Bingo from 2 to 5 p.m., country store, treasure chest, ring toss, antique and classic car show, famous picnic burgers, snow cones, snack bar, fish pond, train ride, Plinko, ball throw and more. Free dancing and music from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. with entertainment by Shiner Hobo Band, The Lost Cause Band and The Bigfoot Wallace Band. There will be a drawing for sweepstakes prizes.

The event will also include a cake walk, country store, religious arti - cles booth and Bingo from noon to 6 p.m. Washer pitching tourna - ment begins at 5 p.m. There will be hamburgers, nachos, popcorn, snowcones, lemonade and soda water all afternoon. Music will be provided by Kovanda Czech Band from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A free dance with music by Red Ravens and Dujka Brothers will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Polka Pavilion/Biergarten. There will be 33 cash certificate prizes to be given away after the auction (total value $11,150).

PRAHA PICNIC TO BE HELD

PRAHA - The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Pra - ha Picnic (169th Prazská Pout) will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 in Praha. Holy Mass will be held at 10 a.m. The Praha stew and fried chicken dinner will be served at 11 a.m. dine-in or plates to go for $14 per plate. A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Bingo will be played from 2 to 6 p.m. Other activities include cake walk, country store, fish pond, ring toss, souvenirs and toy box. Entertainment will be provided by Ennis Czech Boys, Texas Sound Czech Band and Lost Cause band from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Food will be avail - able throughout the afternoon and evening.
