2024 Emerging Artists winners

FAYETTEVILLE — Arts for Rural Texas announced the success of its annual Emerging Artists Competition and Exhibition, which took place on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the ARTS Ross Gallery in Fayetteville.

Young artists in grades sixth through 12th were invited to showcase their creations for a chance to earn ribbons and cash prizes.

This year, the competition received a record-breaking number of submissions, with a grand total of 99 entries from 58 students.

Engaging in art empowers children with valuable tools for self-expression and sets a strong foundation for their overall growth.

Winners of the 2024 Emerging Artists Competition are as follows:

•Best of Show - Friday Night Lights Afterparty by Julia Pardy

•Sixth Grade - 1. Young Einstein by Gavrielle Footnick; 2. Free Rollin’ by Gavrielle Footnick; 3. Purple Beauty by Rylie Adams; Honorable Mention- Pelican Stare Down by Rylie Adams •Seventh Grade - 1. Hand Painted Feathers by Charlotte Schmidt; 2. El Ojo Triste by Angela Soto; 3. Home of a Wasp by Penelope Paterson; Honorable Mention- Rusty by Sean Rogers

Eighth Grade - 1. Main Street by Vivian Daniel; 2. Succulent Serenity by Makenna Emmel; 3. Our First Ride by Vivian Daniel; Honorable Mention- Essence of Texas by Jaycee Zapalac

Ninth Grade - 1. La Lumière by Batyah Footnick; 2. Elegant Bird by Michelle Onianwa; 3. Girl with Her Cockatiel by Michelle Onianwa; Honorable Mention- Femininomenon by Bianca Carrillo

10th Grade - 1. Bamboo Bandit by Olivia Dominey; 3. First Dance by Lorelei Smith; 3. Sunset Orange by Emma Koeth; Honorable Mention- Sangre de Cristo Mountains by Paul Rogers IV

11th Grade - 1. Buen Dia Con Edin by Katherine Inestroza; 2. Glory Awaits by Brent Jones; 3. The Color of Life by Nolan Dominey; Honorable Mention- Modern Cowboy by Parker Weishuhn •12th Grade - 1. Feastin’ South Texas Style by Julia Pardy; 2. You and Me Always by Heily Mellado; 3. Mother and Chick by Grace Moore; Honorable Mention- Texas Capitol by Raynie Mc-Alexander The exhibition will be available for viewing until August 31.
