fire reminds county of dry conditions
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported Wednesday afternoon, around 12:29 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a tractor and hay baler on fire on Green Meadow Lane in the Cistern area.
The Muldoon Volunteer Fire De- partment was notified and respond - ed to the scene along with Deputy James Ulbig. Mutual Aid Assistance was requested from the Flatonia vol - unteer Fire Department who also responded.
Due to the extreme heat, Fayette County Unit Medic 3 also responded to the scene for heat-related exposures.
Upon arrival, it was reported a John Deere 4240 cab tractor and John Deere 535 baler were fully en - gulfed, and a large area of grass was also burnt. The fire was extinguished and there were no other property damage reported.
There were no reported heat-re lated injuries.
The fire is believed to have start ed from a bearing on the baler.
