EAGLE LAKE — The Summer Reading Program at the Wintermann Library in Eagle Lake had its closing party on July 24. Thirty-one students and 14 adults attended. The group was served pizza by Simple Simon’s of Eagle Lake, cookies and lemonade.
Prizes were presented to the winners of the drawing. They included Brandon Ruvalcaba, a Lego McLaren car; Solara Reyes, Squishmallow bee; Ximena Flores, rainbow nail art; Emma Supak, Rubber Band bracelet maker; Camila Elizonda, remote control car; Ava Castillo, Lego Gabby’s Dollhouse; Chloe Hernandez, rope swing; Darly Aguado, family game night; Nicholas Calderon, Lego City car; Kenslee Clower, fashion bead bracelets; and Angie Cabello, Hydro Splash water gun.
The seven-week program consisted of programs by Wild Things Zoofari, Lower Navidad River Authority, Texas A&M Science Road Show, Houston Museum of Natural Science, A Real Mad Hatter Bubble Show and Talewise.
Those registered for the program attended each show well.
When the party was over, each student in attendance was given a free book to take home.
The program’s purpose is to encourage the students to read to help their levels during the school year, and the free books offered help with that goal.
Wintermann Library thanks its volunteers and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for providing the grant to fund the program.
