Very similar to cross country, track is a sport where the area usually has a bunch of runners participate in the later rounds of the year, such as regionals and states.
Track probably has the most athletes represented in the area each year. Bellville, Sealy and Fayetteville are schools that are likely to make it to Mike Myers Stadium at University of Texas in Austin the most for the state championships, but in track, it’s always a possibility that there’s a runner from each and every school in the area that competes.
La Grange had a very talented sprinter in Austen Diggs the past couple years, who’s earned a gold medal and came just short of another gold last year by milliseconds. Diggs is committed to Baylor University to continue his track career.
It also consists of athletes that do well from schools such as Schulenburg, Columbus, Flatonia, etc.
In terms of sports that have the most success in our area as a whole, track is likely a unanimous number one when it comes to the subject.
