BELLVILLE — Even though the Bellville High School girl’s basketball has struggled in recent years, they’ve made drastic improvements under third-year head coach Mike Dewitz.
Dewitz has tons of quality basketball experience at the high school and college level while also having great basketball genes as well. His father, Roy Dewitz, played division one college basketball at Kansas State University and was drafted 19th overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 1958 NBA Draft. He was also inducted into the Kansas State Athletic Hall of Fame.
Going into his third season, Dewitz went from winning four games in his first year to 14 in his second year.
This team has obviously bought into his system and he seems to have control of the locker room, as well as drawing up the right schemes on the court when it comes game time.
After tremendous improvement in year two of the Dewitz era, Bellville could be a team that wins 20 games and might even make some noise in the playoffs.
