WEIMAR — Weimar City Manager Richard Whitten issued a press release about the necessity of boiling water.
Due to low water levels and high levels of chlorine, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Weimar (TX0450004) public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption, such as washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking.
Children, seniors and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.
To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice-making should be boiled and cooled before use for drinking water or human consumption.
The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
Individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from another suitable source for drinking or human consumption in lieu of boiling.
Once the water quality is restored and boiling is no longer necessary, public water system officials will promptly notify customers that the water is safe for drinking or human consumption.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers rescinding it in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this notice with others who may not have received it, especially those in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses.
This can be done by posting it in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
