Burglary of vehicle leads to arrest

WARDA — Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reportedthat on Aug.. 14, at approximately 3:57 a.m., Deputy Jason Fowler was dispatched to US Hwy 77 in the Warda area in reference to a suspicious person who was banging on the door to a residence.

Upon arrival, Fowler met with the homeowners, who advised that a man was detected outside their residence on their ring camera, but the man was no longer on the scene.

items had been removed and spread throughout the property. Fowler observed blood on numerous napkins and in the area surrounding the vehicle.

Deputies remained vigilant in the area, looking for the suspect. At approximately 4:20 a.m., dispatch received a call advising that a white male fitting the sus pect’s description had been located at the Energy Transfer plant.

Fowler arrived, and the sus- pect, later identified as Jonathan Lee Ritchie, 22, of Katy, was taken into custody.

Ritchie had items in his possession that were stolen from the vehicle at the complainant’s residence. Ritchie was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Vehicle. Further charges are pending at this time.

Deputy Wesly Arrison and the La Grange Police Department assisted Fowler. Korenek thanked them for the assistance and the diligence of the homeowners and citizens reporting the incidents.
