Wind facilities resolution passes unanimously at commissioner's court

COLUMBUS — Members of the Colorado County Commissioners Court voted unanimously on a resolution read by Judge Ty Prause regarding wind facilities or wind farms during a regular Aug. 26 meeting.

The resolution, although not a legally binding law to keep wind farms out of the county, spells out specific points of law in Texas legislature-passed laws, making it less easy for large turbine wind farms to infringe on the peace and well-being of land owners who may be adjacent to the unsightly and noise generating machines while not impeding the rights of landowners who may want to lease their land to the wind farm companies.

The resolution also urges the Texas Legislature to use common sense when passing bills reflecting each citizen's wind facility values, whether for or against. The Colorado County resolution follows on the heels of resolutions passed in the surrounding counties after a ground-swell of citizens' objections to the behemoth machines being placed and operated in idyllic surroundings. The resolution was passed unanimously by the Colorado County Commissioners.
